Soups On

It's minutes until the annual Soup-a-thon, and you've got nothing to show for it! Can you scramble your way to a winning dish in a 5 minute window, all while keeping hordes of animated and deadly plant-life at bay? 

   

Soups On is a game created for JADS Game Jam 2023, based on the theme of "stirring the pot". We adapted this theme into a game where the idea is that you've gotta leave your kitchen and fight baddies all in service of filling your soup pot with whatever will make your dish a winner.

The game uses mouse and keyboard for movement, with WASD for directional moves, E for interacting with NPCs or things in the environment, and Q for throwing away held items, which is how you put things in your pot or give items to NPCs who want them. The mouse is used for aiming and shooting your slingshot and pellets, which is done with LMB, and you can also dash to avoid incoming damage with RMB. You can also scroll through your inventory using the mouse-wheel or pressing number keys.

You're score is based on the number of items put in your pot. Most things can go in there, but items that are first prepared on your kitchen's cutting boards will be worth more. Items that can only be obtained by completing objectives for NPCs or fighting giant elite monsters will be worth a great deal more than the rest, so be on the look out for rare ingredients that will really spice up your dish!
